Massage - A Two Day Workshop
The Harmony Centre, Walpole, IP19 9BB
Next workshop Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd July - 10am - 4pm both days
Learn a beautifully relaxing, tension-relieving, holistic back, neck and shoulder massage to give to family and friends, no previous experience necessary. This workshop is ideal for those new to massage and who wish to give massage to family and friends, and is a good reminder for those of you who have completed a massage course in the past and would like a refresher. It is also a great introduction for those of you considering taking a practitioner course in the future.
Holistic massage feels good and is relaxing and invigorating. It is so called because it treats your body as a whole – taking into consideration not only the muscular-skeletal structure of your body but all of your key body systems, such as nervous, circulatory, lymphatic and respiratory, as well as incorporating an awareness of your subtle energetic body. Physically, Holistic Massage can relax your tight muscles, support your immune system, reduce stress and improve lymph flow, nervous function and joint mobility - by keeping ligaments and tendons supple and pliable. This increases your body’s fluidity and can ease many short and long term ailments such as back pain, arthritis and insomnia, as well as encouraging your own healing energies to work. At an emotional level, massage can provide a caring, non-intrusive touch which soothes your busy mind, reduces stress (it is often suggested in a regular program for stress management) and makes you feel whole again.
Topics covered in the workshop:
- Benefits of Holistic Massage
- Partial and total contraindications
- Some basic anatomy and physiology
- Self care including body awareness and posture when giving a massage
- Basic massage techniques and sequences
- Massage aftercare
- An introduction to the energetic body and to incorporating awareness of this in your massage
All students will have the techniques demonstrated to them and each will both give and receive the massage. There is a maximum class size of six to ensure quality tuition for all attendees and there will be time to practise the sequence to consolidate understanding as well as plenty of time for any questions that arise. Included in the course price is a manual to take home of relevant basic anatomy and physiology and guidance on the sequence you will be learning. You will also receive a signed certificate of attendance.
Cost: £170 - deposit £70 (non-refundable)
